“RISING ACTION,” Part Four
FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! But don’t worry, it’s probably a metaphor for the creative process or the Hegelian dialectic or something clever so we’ll still get taken seriously. FIGHT![1]

Plot summary[]

Woden informs Ananke that Minerva has been brought back to Valhalla, and she instructs him to prepare the machine. Meanwhile, Sakhmet informs Baal that she has spotted the renegade gods outside the building, and he goes to confront them. Persephone once more attempts to persuade him that Ananke is a murderer, and when he continues to distrust her, she attacks the building with her vines. Dionysus's partgoers also join the fray.

Shit, Becoming, 24 September 2014[]

As battle erupts, Baphomet tells Baal that Inanna loved him, and he hesitates briefly. However, then an upgraded version of the Valkyries arrives and the battle escalates. Inside Valhalla, Minerva wakes up in shock, and is immediately greeted with the sight of a stern Ananke. Ananke kills Minerva's parents in front of her and Amaterasu. Amaterasu then immediately teleports away in fright. Beth and her camera crew, who witness the whole thing, wonder how they are still alive.

Sakhmet attacks and injures The Morrigan, but Baphomet manages to get past her and reaches Ananke, who is dragging Minerva to the machine. Ananke easily blasts him out of the building, though she loses a hand in the process. She reveals to Woden that the owl's recording of her confession was a trap, and commands him to delete it so there is no evidence. She also says that she plans to kill the rest of the Pantheon once she has sacrificed Minerva and increased her power. Woden is reluctant to let her do so, but caves anyway.

As the battle wanes outside, Woden decides to introduce a new weapon: a suit of armour that transforms the group of Valkyries into one giant Valkyrie as tall as Valhalla. Ananke, wielding a dagger, sends Minerva into the machine. The issue ends with a title card that reads "Bad Blood, 24 September 2014".
